Land-Based Environmental Spill Response Drill

Land-Based Preparedness and Response to Environmental Emergencies

On September 29, 2026, we participated in an environmental spill response drill aimed at assessing the response capabilities of our land-based units in a simulated emergency scenario.

The drill provided an opportunity to put the various stages of an environmental emergency response into practice, from the deployment of response teams and the demarcation of the affected area to containment activities, control of a simulated leak, and review of the associated procedures.

Activation of PLANACON and Deployment of Land-Based Units

The exercise began with the activation of PLANACON, initiating the procedures established for the drill.

Our land-based environmental emergency response units entered the facilities following the required access control procedures and proceeded to the area where the drill was taking place.

Once on site, we installed safety barriers and established the boundaries of the work area, ensuring the necessary conditions to carry out response activities and control access to the area.

Deployment of Equipment and Containment Operations

As part of the drill, we started up a pump and set up a secondary containment area, using equipment from our land-based environmental response unit.

The procedure for controlling a simulated pipeline leak was also carried out as part of the planned sequence of response activities.

These tasks made it possible to assess the deployment of available resources and the implementation of the procedures corresponding to each stage of the drill.

Environmental Response Equipment and Procedures

During the exercise, our team presented the various components of the land-based spill response unit, explaining how they operate and how they are used in containment activities.

The activity also included explanations of procedures for handling contaminants, the associated risks, and the measures involved in containment and waste segregation.

Information about our wildlife rescue service was also presented as part of the resources and procedures covered during the drill.

Drill Evaluation and Results

The drill made it possible to carry out and verify the planned response actions, including the arrival of the units at the facility, their deployment to the response area, the demarcation of the area, equipment deployment, and control of the simulated leak.

Among the key findings of the evaluation were the active participation of the personnel involved, the proper execution of the planned tasks, the rapid response, and the availability of the necessary equipment.

The exercise also made it possible to assess coordination among the various participating teams throughout the simulated emergency.

Environmental Emergency Response Services

At Lanchas del Sur S.A., we have land-based environmental emergency response units, operational personnel, and equipment designed to respond to situations requiring containment and control measures.

Participating in this type of drill allows us to put procedures into practice, assess available resources, and strengthen our preparedness to respond to potential environmental contingencies.
